The late summer stock market uptrend appears to have hit rough waters.
After a volatile July, the market was in rally mode, spending most of August and early September climbing higher. The end of September brought some weakness, as the major indexes began to accumulate distribution days.

Stock market rally back from the dead – 2012-07-26
Strong statements from the European Central Bank ignited leading stocks, causing the markets to recover some of this week’s losses. The show of strength was enough to reverse the market correction that started on Tuesday, and confirm a new uptrend.

Latest stock market rally dies – 2012-07-24
Yesterday’s upward momentum was the silver lining in an otherwise gloomy day in the investing world. After opening lower, the NASDAQ, S&P 500, and NYSE clawed their way back to close near the highs for the day.
But today was a different story, as that momentum did not carry over into the trading session.
